MCM’s maintenance works ensured minimal disruption to the public while significantly extending the swimming pool’s lifespan.

 

A public, eight-lane outdoor heated saltwater swimming pool on the shore of Woolloomooloo Bay, in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens. Constructed in 2002, the area consists of a 50 metre main pool and a 20 metre children’s pool over a suspended steel beam structure. 

Client Brief

MCM was engaged by the City of Sydney to carry out structural repair works to the ABC Pool. Previous inspections revealed the pool had recurring vertical cracks with active corrosion in the walls and gutters, and the steel members below pool deck level were in poor condition; some were observed with heavy corrosion and visible deformation. 

What We Delivered:

  • Suspended scaffold install

  • Mobilisation, glass panel removal & topside edge protect

  • Timber decking renewal and waterproofing

  • Concrete cathodic repairs

  • Crack injection along the gutter, and steel painting of cross bracings

  • Timber fender piles replacement
