MCM’s maintenance works ensured minimal disruption to the public while significantly extending the swimming pool’s lifespan.
A public, eight-lane outdoor heated saltwater swimming pool on the shore of Woolloomooloo Bay, in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens. Constructed in 2002, the area consists of a 50 metre main pool and a 20 metre children’s pool over a suspended steel beam structure.
Client Brief
MCM was engaged by the City of Sydney to carry out structural repair works to the ABC Pool. Previous inspections revealed the pool had recurring vertical cracks with active corrosion in the walls and gutters, and the steel members below pool deck level were in poor condition; some were observed with heavy corrosion and visible deformation.
