Over the past five years, MCM has been honoured to work alongside the City of Sydney, providing expert solutions for the management, inspection, and servicing of a diverse range of structures across the local government area.

Client Brief

Under this contract, MCM has been responsible for the maintenance of several key infrastructure elements that form the backbone of the City of Sydney’s public spaces and transport networks. The scope of work includes:

  • Bridge Structures: Maintaining vehicular and pedestrian bridges, including high-profile structures such as the Victoria Park Bridge, Allan Truss Bridge, and the Glebe Foreshore Boardwalks.

  • Cliffs and Retaining Walls: Ensuring the integrity of cliffs and rock faces throughout the City, with a focus on safety and durability.

  • Sea Walls and Pontoons: Notably, the Beare Park Seawall and work at Rushcutters Bay, providing vital protection against erosion and coastal impact.

  • Stairs, Steps, and Ramps: Including the preservation of the state heritage-listed Agar Steps, a significant part of Sydney’s heritage infrastructure.

  • Fences: Maintenance of historic palisade fences in Millers Point and Dawes Point, vital to the City’s aesthetic and historical character.

What we delivered:

  • Number of Jobs Completed: Over 230 projects delivered successfully across the City of Sydney, ensuring long-term infrastructure sustainability and safety.

  • Agility and Flexibility: MCM has demonstrated remarkable versatility in successfully delivering a wide variety of projects. From small-scale repairs on infrastructure with budgets starting at $2,000, to large-scale structural restoration and maintenance projects valued up to $3.5M, MCM consistently showcases its ability to manage projects of all sizes and complexities.

  • Incident Free: Safety and environmental responsibility are deeply ingrained in MCM’s culture. The company maintains a strong focus on ‘doing no harm,’ ensuring that safety and environmental standards are always met. As a result, MCM is proud to report that throughout the duration of the contract, there have been no Lost Time Incidents or reportable environmental incidents, underscoring their commitment to safe and sustainable practices.

  • Expansion of Indigenous Participation: Through its partnership with the City of Sydney, MCM has made significant strides in supporting Indigenous participation in the workforce. By regularly providing opportunities for Indigenous workers and engaging Supply Nation vendors, MCM helps empower local Indigenous communities while enhancing the effectiveness of its onsite teams. 

Community Engagement: Txt-IT System

A unique feature of MCM’s service offering under the CoS contract is the implementation of our Txt-IT System, a specialised community engagement tool developed specifically for this contract. Txt-IT allows MCM project managers to communicate directly with the public and respond to real-time feedback, inquiries, and concerns.

This innovative system has been instrumental in ensuring that community engagement is at the heart of our service delivery. By offering a direct and responsive communication channel, MCM has enhanced its transparency, fostered trust, and ensured that any issues or requests from the public are addressed swiftly and effectively. The Txt-IT
system ensures that residents, workers, and stakeholders remain informed and involved in the ongoing maintenance and restoration of their public spaces.
