“MCM have been very flexible in the implementation of the works to ensure that they have not adversely affected shipping operations. The MCM on-site supervision has constantly shown excellent communication with stevedoring operations, and have fulfilled all BSL requirements.”

In February 2016 MCM was awarded the Stage 1 contract for the remediation of the Bluescope Steel Wharf facility at Hastings, Victoria. Stages 2, 3 & 4 were subsequently awarded, and the project is ongoing.

Client brief

Stage 1 works included the repair and protection of heavily corroded concrete beams with gunite concrete repair, hybrid anode corrosion protection, finished with a silane protective coating. On the back of the Stage 1 works, MCM was awarded Stage 2 and subsequently Stage 3, then Stage 4, to extend the scope into 2020. Bluescope wharf is a fully operational wharf and good communication between MCM staff and Bluescope Steel has been a critical function of this contract.
