Concrete Repair, Hybrid Anode Cathodic Protection, Water Anode Cathodic Protection, Civil Works

This project is currently the largest hybrid anode system installed for maritime infrastructure in Australia, with over 25,000 anodes installed.

In 2018 MCM was awarded this contract to remediate and protect the wharf structures through installation of a large-scale Hybrid Anode Cathodic Protection System.

Client brief

The wharf structures, located in Port Botany, were built 40 years ago and have been subjected to harsh environmental conditions and operational caused degradation. Throughout the works, stevedoring operations are required to continue unimpeded.

Under the scope of works, MCM deployed bespoke cantilever access systems, with integrated automated drilling rigs, to ensure works continued with minimal disruption, whilst allowing flexibility in the location, installation, and removal, of any quay line access systems.

What we delivered:

  • Access design and installation

  • Design and fabrication of automated drilling rigs

  • Fender replacement works

  • Concrete repairs

  • Hybrid Anode installation

  • Water anode installation

  • Jetty upgrade and associated civil works
