Successful delivery depended on client communication and flexibility, particularly after catastrophic flooding in Queensland closed road and rail links prior to commencement of works.

 

The Curragh Coal Mine located near Blackwater in central Queensland is an open-cut, coal mine boasting one of the largest coal reserves in the world. The mine produces a variety of coal products for export and domestic use.

Client Brief

To assist in the delivery of repair and protection works to a 90m diameter concrete thickener tank during a period of plant shutdown.


What We Delivered:

  • 700m of crack injection and 460m of floor joint resealing

  • 82m2 of concrete repairs by hydrodemolition and gunite spraying by dry process

  • Replacement of 117m of the concrete wall by hydrodemolition and form & pour

  • Installation of corrosion protection system; 8,300 Duoguard hybrid anodes grouted into equidistant holes throughout walled areas, provided with DC power for several days to reach galvanic mode and followed by 400m2 of a dry-mix gunite overlay to anodes
